Leading healthcare provider, ProCare, has today announced that Leo Foliaki has been appointed as a Director on the Co-operative Board, effective from 1 July.
Today’s announcement comes as current Director, Mike Schubert, steps down following six years’ of service to the Board.
Leo has formerly been a Partner at PwC New Zealand and was the lead audit partner for several publicly listed entities on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. Leo’s other governance roles include being Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for Counties Manukau District Health Board, member of the Council for Auckland University of Technology, and member of the Board of New Zealand Opera.
Additionally, he is a passionate supporter for the Pacific community and has worked for several not-for-profit community organisations.
Alister Lawrence, Chair of the ProCare Co-operative Board, says: “We look forward to having Leo join us and help shape and build upon the way ProCare operates. Leo has provided quality services in key government roles across New Zealand and worked on large projects in complex operating environments, so will bring expert insights and fresh perspectives to the Board.
“These qualities, along with his deep understanding of community engagement, will be invaluable as the Board continues to navigate the ongoing complexities of the health sector,” continues Lawrence.

Commenting on Mike Schubert’s contribution, Lawrence says: “Mike has been a wonderful addition to our Board, providing fantastic support and guidance with his extensive experience and expertise over the last six years. He has brought valuable strategic insight to the Board that has helped guide the direction of the organisation through a period of significant change and growth.
