A tiny sole GP practice in Auckland’s Mangere East beat competition from some of Auckland’s biggest medical cen­tres to be named the top per­former in the annual ProCare quality awards.

GP John Upsdell (72), who has been running Dr Upsdell’s Surgery for 32 years, and de­scribes himself jokingly as a “dinosaur”, scooped the Med­tech Supreme Award at a lavish ceremony at Eden Park on 1 De­cember.
