Delivering smarter primary care together - ProCare, your PHO 

Tevita Funaki is the CEO of The Fono, a Pacific provider of medical, dental, social, public health and education services. Born in New Zealand but raised in Tonga, Tevita attended Otago University and graduated with a B.Com in 2000 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management from Unitec in 2007. Prior to joining The Fono in July 2010, Tevita was the Pacific Health Manager for ProCare Health Ltd and the National Pasifika Liaison Advisor for Massey University. He is currently the Chairman of the ProCare Pacific Advisory Committee. 

Braden Te Ao is a Senior Health Economist and Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland.

Inspired by these principles and the legacy left by Te Puea, Braden has worked directly with government and non-government organisations within the health sector to develop a policy for prevention relating to neurological disorders (stroke, TBI, dementia, epilepsy and muscular disorders). His expertise includes healthcare financing, resource allocation, prioritisation of health care initiatives, inequities and disparities in health and unmet needs for socially disadvantaged groups. 

Donovan has whakapapa to Ngāti Te Ata, Waiohua, Waikato-Tainui and Ngāti Hine and has extensive governance experience including most recently being the Chairperson of Te Rau Ora.  

Donovan is an experienced governor and director. He has led significant change across governance entities and structures and is passionate about making an impact on health outcomes in a community. He is a transformational leader having championed key projects across primary care, mental health and addictions and the disability sector. Donovan has a background in Law and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Otago. 

Dr Jodie O'Sullivan was born in Rotorua and went to Otago University completing her medical degree in 1989. She completed post graduate training in Australia and the United Kingdom, returning to New Zealand with post graduate qualifications in General Practice and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. 

She has been working in General Practice for eighteen years with a special interest in Paediatrics and disease prevention. 

Jodie is a former Director of the PHO Board and teaches communication skills at the Auckland University Medical School. 

Leo has formerly been a Partner at PwC New Zealand and was the lead audit partner for several publicly listed entities on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. Leo’s other governance roles include being Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for Counties Manukau District Health Board, member of the Council for Auckland University of Technology, and member of the Board of New Zealand Opera. 

Additionally, he is a passionate supporter for the Pacific community and has worked for several not-for-profit community organisations. 

Registered Social Worker, Sally Dalhousie is the Chief Operating Officer at The Fono Trust, New Zealand's largest Pacific community owned NGO. The Fono delivers a range of medical, dental, public health, whanau ora, mental health, education and social services across Auckland and Northland. 

Sally is also a Board Member of the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers, the Waitakere Improving School Attendance Programme and served as a National President of PACIFICA Inc. Sally is passionate about Pacific community building and savouring time with her family and friends outside of work.

I am currently the Mana Whenua rep on the ProCare PHO board. I have spent many years in education and health, and have taught Te Reo Māori to many over my working career. I have worked in Mental Health and addictions and have had the privilege to lead a whānau of Mātauranga Māori Specialists in a DHB setting. I am currently at Te Rau Ora as the Kaitiaki Mātauranga Māori, educating around cultural safety and Māori therapeutic tools. I am unapologetic about my position and that is to get better health outcomes for Māori, to reconnect Māori to who we are and to help Māori learn how to remember.
