For patients of many of Auckland’s GP practices, getting access to free, quality after-hours health advice from the comfort of their own home is now easier than ever. A newly expanded telephone nurse triage service means that if a patient or their family member feels unwell and their GP practice is closed, they can now just call their usual practice number for free from a landline.

ProCare Health, New Zealand’s largest primary health care organisation (PHO), has today welcomed 34 new practices and approximately 165,000 new patients to its network. These practices come mainly from the HealthWest organisation in Waitakere, as well as from Mangere Community Health, Waiora Healthcare, and Te Puna PHO on Auckland’s North Shore.

Botany Doctor Medical Practice was honoured on Friday night at the 10th ProCare Health Quality Awards as the Practice of the Year for its high professional standards and dedication to patient needs. ProCare also honoured Dr Gary MacLachlan as GP of the Year and Kathy Neilson as Practice Nurse of the Year, both of Stoddard Road Medical Centre, Mt Roskill.
