As a leading primary healthcare organisation, ProCare works on behalf of its members to advocate for their interests and secure the future of general practice for all New Zealanders.
We believe it is in our patients' best interests that quality general practice and primary care remain the medical home for all New Zealanders.
We work closely with the DHBs to ensure that the right strategies are in place to meet the Government's national health priorities. We partner closely with the country's medical associations and workforce organisations to collaborate on initiatives that benefit primary care as a whole.
Some of the initiatives ProCare contribute to are:
- Initiating specialised clinics
- Developing new models of shared care
- Developing integrated health networks
- Contributing to tertiary education system reviews to ensure the best qualified doctors and nurses enter the healthcare workfore.
